NEIL Alexander today admitted he was stunned as referee Craig Thomson reduced Rangers to nine men with two red cards in the Co-op Insurance Cup Final.
The Ibrox club's treble dream looked to be turning into a nightmare after Kevin Thomson and rookie defender Danny Wilson were sent packing with the scores level
But Alexander also reckons St Mirren defender Jack Ross was also lucky not to see red after an off-the-ball clash that left the Rangers keeper needing medical treatment
However, that challenge went completely unpunished by whistler Thomson.
And the Scotland player reckons the game could have been totally different if the Saints defender had received the same treatment as Thomson and Wilson.

"It was nothing serious and I was always going to continue after it. I was glad that I did."
He reflected: "I thought both sending-off decisions were a bit harsh, but the referee had made up his mind so there is no point arguing about it.
"I felt sorry for Danny especially. He was really solid in defence, as the whole back four were. At his red card, I thought Davie Weir was covering, but Danny will learn from it.
"It won't set him back at all. In fact, I think he will be a far stronger person from the whole experience and for playing in the cup final."
The former Cardiff and Ipswich goalie admitted he feared the deadlock would only be broken by penalties as the match seemed to be heading for a goalless stalemate.

"Credit to St Mirren, they were the better team for the whole game. They were unlucky. At one stage during the game I was thinking: 'Can we hang on for penalties?'
"I thought that was the only way we were going to win the match. Then Kenny Miller popped up with the winner in probably our only serious attack of the whole match.
"It was a fantastic header from Kenny and it has got us out of jail. It showed great character that, when things aren't going well, we dig in and get a result.
"It was a major step in hopefully securing the Treble."
Alexander, who was preferred to Allan McGregor between the sticks after having played previously in the competition, was also pleased for gaffer Walter Smith. The Gers boss took a huge gamble by giving wholesale sexy lingerie him the nod ahead of McGregor - he has not played a first team game since the semi-final back at the start of February.
But Alexander repaid his manager by making several crucial saves, from Steven Thomson in the first half in particular, and keeping a clean sheet.
He admitted: "It would have been easy for the manager to pick Allan ahead of me.
"But I have to give the manager a lot of thanks. He has been loyal and showed faith in me. It was tough to go into the match cold, but I was pleased with how I played."
Now Alexander is eyeing up a long-term stay at Ibrox as speculation continues to swirl over McGregor's future.
